On the other hand, this condition has an unexpected impact, namely the infodemic. The infodemic phenomenon is caused by exposure of a large amount of information that allows true and false information to be accessed. It becomes a problem when these hoaxes become a reference for the public in handling COVID-19. This research aims to map the hoax themes that most frequently emerged during the emergency PPRM period, and analyze the causes of hoaxes circulating massively during the pandemic. This study will further discuss hoax themes during the early PPKM Darurat Covid-19 Outbreak Policy from 1st - 12th July 2021. The online qualitative approach is used as a tool to view and analyze this phenomenon. The hoaxes analyzed came from Cekfakta.com which is a hoax verification portal in Indonesia. Hoaxes that were informed on the portal were then collected and analyzed for themes, sources. The results of this research show that social media becomes the main source of hoax circulation. There are three major theme trends that become hoaxes in the early PPKM Darurat in Indonesia, namely politics, health, and religion. There are three things that affect the masiv spread of hoaxes, namely: 1) Community culture, 2) The development of digital technology, 3) Low media literacy. Two recommendations that can be given through this research are digital literacy in society, and the development of tabayyun, namely checking and rechecking information before it is received and distributed.
2024-07-31T13:04:21+07:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Lelita Azaria Rahmadiva, Bono Setyo, Siantari Rihartono http://103.8.12.212:33180/unj/index.php/communications/article/view/38621 MODEL PROMOSI KREATIF “AISAS” PADA PERGURUAN TINGGI JARAK JAUH DI INDONESIA DALAM PENINGKATAN REKRUTMEN MAHASISWA BARU 2024-07-31T18:23:55+07:00 Sri Maulidia Permatasari permatasari@gmail.com Melisa Arisanty arisanty@gmail.com Eko Kuswanti kuswanti@gmail.com Yasir Riady yasir.riady.yr@gmail.com Selly Anastasia anastasia@gmail.com
The existence of higher education in this era of technological disruption causes the practice of higher education to change fundamentally. The song aims to educate young people about communication ethics on social media. In the context of globalization and technological development, cyberculture and social media have become integral parts of social and political interaction, allowing for widespread dissemination of information and expression, while also presenting challenges such as hoaxes and unethical behavior. Using Wilhelm Dilthey's hermeneutic approach and cultural studies, this research analyzes how the lyrics of "Berani Bersuara" represent social critique against the unwise use of social media. Secondary data from various sources were used to support this analysis. The findings indicate that the song advocates for wise and responsible communication in the digital world, aligning with the government's digital literacy program. The song also serves as a medium to convey social criticism, encouraging awareness and positive changes in social media users' behavior. This study affirms that pop music can be an effective tool for conveying social messages and supporting digital literacy campaigns, demonstrating the power of pop culture in influencing the views and behavior of young people in the modern era.

Keywords:

Cultural Studies, Hermeneutics, Digital literacy, Communication ethics, Cyberculture, Social critique.
2024-07-31T16:24:56+07:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Darra Ananda http://103.8.12.212:33180/unj/index.php/communications/article/view/45100 MASTERS OF THE NARRATIVE: CULTURE AND POWER IN GLOBAL MEDIA’S TAKE ON PALESTINE-ISRAEL CONFLICT 2024-07-31T18:17:56+07:00 Meranti Meranti meranti@civitas.unas.ac.id Danto Erfantoro Isa issaeldeltoro@gmail.com Isna Silviana isnasilviana2654@gmail.com
The study explores how major international media outlets craft and convey narratives, with a focus on Al Jazeera, BBC, and CNN. Grounded in Edward Said's "Orientalism," the research aims to unveil the cultural nuances and power relations inherent in the portrayal of this longstanding geopolitical conflict. Objectives: Examine Cultural Narratives: Analyze how cultural narratives are constructed and communicated by Al Jazeera, BBC, and CNN in their coverage of the Palestine-Israel conflict.
